This workshop will equip early career researchers with the skills to effectively communicate their research findings to journalists and the general public. Participants will learn how to craft compelling narratives, pitch stories to media outlets, and confidently handle media interviews.

  • Agenda:
    • Session 1: Introduction to the Media Landscape (9:00 AM - 10:00 AM) - Overview of the media landscape and its relevance to research dissemination.
    • Session 2: Crafting Compelling Research Narratives (10:00 AM - 11:00 AM) - Developing key messages and crafting compelling narratives that resonate with journalists and the public.
    • Session 3: Pitching Your Research to the Media (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) - Strategies for pitching research stories to journalists and securing media coverage.
    • Session 4: Mastering Media Interviews (12:00 PM - 1:00 PM) - Practical exercises on preparing for and conducting media interviews, including handling challenging questions.
